Dev Team recently released PwnageTool 3.1 for MAC OSX that can jailbreak (and unlock) iPod Touch 2G, iPod Touch 1G, iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. There is no windows version or reds now available for now. The current release does not work with iPhone 3GS. Here are the official words from iPhone Dev team blog.
